Legal challenge to DTT licensing

The DTT licensing procedure in Slovakia has been halted following a legal challenge taken by the broadcast network operator Telecom Corp.
Telecom Corp says that the licensing procedure is biased against some candidates because it calls for MPEG-4, H.264,AVC compression standard instead of the existing MPEG-2.
The national regulator TU SR had invited tenders for two multiplexes in August with the intention of allocating licences by the end of 2008.
TU.SR is to appeal the Court’s decision.
Telecom Corp is currently operating a trial DTT services in Kosice
