ID-reliant public service on DTT

Rapid TV News reports that the Spanish public telecommunications company Indra has developed an advanced platform allowing access to public services via digital-terrestrial TV. The system was specifically developed for the Castilian capital of Segovia. Users insert their digital ID document in a slot in their DTT set-top box to access the public services of the Segovia’s town hall. The project is being tested on 1,100 users.
The set top box must be MHP compliant, MHP being the official interactive DTT standard approved in Europe and Spain for interactive television.
Segovia is the first Spanish capital to test this application but the project may be extended to other cities of the central region of Castilla and León since the applications can be personalized, according to the newspaper “Cinco Días”.
