DVB-SH network deployed

Abertis Telecom deployed a DVB-SH hybrid terrestrial-satellite mobile TV network in Spain as part of the Mobile World Congress 2010 which took place in Barcelona last week.
The trial ran a DVB-SH solution using both terrestrial and satellite delivered signals and was undertaken in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the country’s Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce.
The system deployed by Abertis Telecom includes its broadcasting TV installations in Torre Collserola in Barcelona as well as capacity from the Eutelsat satellite system. In addition several transmitters were installed in the city for the Congress. The intention was to provide service coverage to users and exhibiting companies inside and outside the Congress’s exhibition pavilions.
