Cabinet approves Pay DTT
The Spanish Cabinet has given the go-ahead (13th August 2009) to allow Pay DTT services and have issued a “royal decree”. Congress should validate the text in a period of 30days from the date of its enactment, but it will not be debated in Parliament.
The decision is still controversial but the government have said that making a decision was necessary and urgent; also that Pay DTT services can provide an impetus for the DTT platform in the six month period leading up to the completion of analogue switch-off as well as providing new business opportunities for broadcasters and provide viewers with a wider range of television options.
