IMT services to get 790-862 MHz allocation

The Spanish government has announced that it will reserve the 790-862 MHz band “digital dividend” for the use of non-broadcast services as of the 1st January 2015.
The plan brings Spain in line with the decision to allocate this band for mobile telecom and Internet services by the ITU World Radio Communications Conference held in November 2007. These services were designated by the ITU as IMT, which stands for International Mobile Telecommunications.
Such an allocation could be worth between €12-16 billion according to the European Commission.
The government also plans to bring in legislation to allow High Definition TV broadcasting on the DTT platform.
