Pay DTT STB’s and receivers to work on all services
The Ministry of Industry is asking all broadcasters and manufacturers to agree on a common specification for Pay-DTT receivers so that will all be capable of accessing services from any Pay-DTT provider. This would eliminate the need for viewers to purchase multiple DTT receivers.
A working group has been set up by the Ministry of Industry to develop the technical specification for Pay-DTT receivers.
Nagravision is reported to have begun discussions with manufacturers to incorporate its conditional access technology in certain DTT receivers.
In order for Pay-DTT services to launch, the current legislative framework must be amended. It is expected that the government will propose such an amendment on 15 May.
