DVB releases reference architecture for IP multicast

A newly published DVB BlueBook presents the reference architecture for an end-to-end system to deliver linear content over IP networks in a scalable and standards-compliant manner.

Comments welcome

The document – A176: Adaptive media streaming over IP multicast – is not an approved DVB specification. It has been made publicly available to enable receipt of comments from the wider industry.

The reference architecture was developed within DVB’s TM-IPI group. Those with comments are invited to contact the leader of the group’s ABR Multicast Taskforce, Richard Bradbury (richard.bradbury[at]rd.bbc.co.uk).

TM-IPI chair Muriel Deschanel (b<>com) will deliver a presentation on the reference architecture at DVB World 2018 in Warsaw next week.
