DVB test content for VVC and AVS3 codecs now available

The DVB Project has published test content for the two codecs most recently added to its core specification for the use of video and audio coding in broadcast and broadband applications. A selection of bitstreams for both VVC and AVS3 can now be downloaded from the Verification & Validation section of the DVB website.

Both VVC (in February 2022) and AVS3 (in July 2022) have been added to the latest draft of ETSI TS 101 154, which remains the world’s most comprehensive and flexible coding toolbox for the delivery of next-generation television services. The specification is available as a DVB BlueBook and will be formally published by ETSI in due course.

The test content is made freely available to implementers for the verification and validation of VVC and/or AVS3 video service delivery according to DVB specifications, and to test the interoperability and functionality of related equipment.

The transport streams, which can be downloaded via the DVB website, were created using a variety of uncompressed SDR (Standard Dynamic Range), HDR (High Dynamic Range) and HFR (High Frame Rate) content.

Update 16.03.2023: DVB-DASH packages for both AVS3 and VVC have now been added to the V&V section of the website.
