New chair for DVB Promotion & Communications Module

Stan Baaijens, CEO of Netherlands-based DVB Member Funke Digital TV, is the new chair of DVB’s Promotion and Communications Module (PCM). He replaces Helmut Stein, who had been in the role since the creation of the DVB Project.

The mandate of the PCM, as set out in DVB’s Memorandum of Understanding, is to ensure the flow of information to all parts of the world concerning DVB activities and specifications. The group, which is open to all Members, meets several times a year to plan DVB’s participation in trade shows, workshops and conferences, and to coordinate communication about DVB specifications through various channels.

Funke Digital TV is a family-owned company, founded by Stan Baaijens’ father in 1957. As CEO, Stan has focused on understanding consumer needs and the broadcasting industry, increasing the market penetration of digital TV. He became a member of the DVB Steering Board in 2015.

Away from the office, Stan enjoys learning about other cultures and languages, with a particular interest in Arab countries. He has also worked in international banking and was a member of the steering board at Rabobank for more than ten years. He has been treasurer of the Rotary Club in the Netherlands for many years.

In his final formal act as PCM chair, Helmut Stein chaired DVB’s recent conference session at IBC2018. At the end of the session he introduced his successor, noting that a smooth transition had been ensured through Stan’s participation as PCM vice-chair over the previous two years.

> The next DVB PCM meeting is on 22 November 2018.
