Dubai builds DVB-H mobile TV network
UAE. Media & Broadcast, a subsidiary of German T-systems, has been commissioned by Tecom Investments to set up a cellular TV network based on DVB-H technology, to cover Dubai.
During the test phase, which is scheduled to run until the end of 2007, users will be able to receive 12 TV channels on DVB-H enabled handsets and mobile devices free of charge.
TV broadcasters in Dubai will be able to use the network to reach around 600,000 inhabitants in a coverage area of 300 square kilometres. The network is scheduled for expansion during 2008.
